Summer Transition

We are currently transitioning out of spring and into summer. For many of you, this season is your favorite.

For others, it can be a time when there is too much stimulation and it is difficult to relax.

If you love summer, great! Here are some great ways to engage in the season and celebrate: impulsive outings like day trips and movies in the park at nighttime, sleeping in and staying up late from time to time), traveling, connecting with friends.

The latter folks may see increased insomnia, physical discomfort from heat and humidity, dread, sadness, and anxiety. In summer, routine is disrupted and the body loves boring routines. Tips for coping with summer heat and longer days include:

-Waking up at the same time every day
-Enjoying the mornings outside to acclimate to the day's weather while it's cooler.
-Eating cooling foods like watermelon and cucumbers (only if you like them)
-Acupuncture at more frequency than you might need in other seasons
-Talk therapy at an increased frequency than you might need in other seasons
-Getting the word out that summer is difficult for you to your loved ones
-Staying indoors once the day heats up, it is impossible to feel good in your body if you feel physically cooked by summer
-Avoid committing to anything outdoors until very close to the event, be a "maybe" and follow your body and mind's wishes

If you struggle in the summer, acupuncture treatment can help!
